Photographing people against mountain backdrops since 2007 - Serving Glacier, Kalispell, Whitefish, and the Flathead Valley - Montana Photographer
Would you give me just a short background to how you met, your relationship, and engagement?
Our first date was a blind date, the result of a set up by mutual friends. They had been bugging us for months to meet because they thought we would get along great! I was in Africa at the time, and Ryan was traveling the world for work. We finally met for the first time at Oktoberfest in Utah. Come to find out we grew up less than 2 miles from each other. We very quickly became two peas in a pod from that first date. Fast forward 4 years, almost to the day from that first date, Ryan proposed to me inView full post »
In the northwest corner of Montana sits a hidden gem of the earth. It is a park so naturally beautiful it is known as the “Crown of the Continent.” It is North America’s Swiss Alps and in my opinion, there is no better place to be married. It is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, romantic, and adventurous. I love taking photos everywhere, but I never feel as inspired as I do when I’m in Glacier photographing weddings. Hopefully you fall in love with this little piece of heaven (it was actually used in the movie What Dreams May Come as heaven) as much as I have. Here’s a link toView full post »
This elopement was photographed in the thick of one of the worst fire season’s in Montana and Glacier National Park’s History. Days before the bride called me and asked if I thought we should cancel it. They already had their license and all the details were in place but the air was considered hazardous, and was honestly, ugly and disgusting. But I had a spot in mind on the river that I had used before when the clouds were low and you couldn’t see the mountains and I told her that I thought it would make for beautiful photos. So we went for it! And I’m so glad we did.View full post »

My amazingly talented husband put together this little behind the scenes video during an engagement shoot up in Glacier National Park on Lake McDonald. I love it so much. So many people dread having their photos taken and I hope this captures a little taste of how fun and special having your photos taken can be.
This beautiful song is by Shayla Smith and can be purchased here https://shayla.bandcamp.com/track/loved
Shayla is a local artist and also does music for weddings, which is ALWAYS a treat for me!
Here are the photos from the shoot. And in case you were wondering who thisView full post »
Many Glacier is well worth the extra 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Kalispell for an epic elopement in Glacier National Park. It’s weddings like this that are why I love being a Glacier National Park Wedding Photographer.
From the Bride:
We are high school sweethearts. At the time of our wedding, we’d been engaged for 4 years. We spent that time accomplishing goals we set for ourselves as a couple, such as graduating college, starting our careers, building a home, and planning our dream wedding. Staying true to ourselves as individuals and as a couple was our jumping off point for planningView full post »
Brittany and Travis came all the way from Minnesota for engagement photos in Glacier National Park and I hope you can agree that they were well worth the trip! And since they were already here for photos they thought they might as well make the most of their trip and so they camped, explored, hiked, and took advantage of everything that Montana has to offer. Ok fine, maybe having fun in Montana was their main reason for coming, but engagement photos was definitely up there!
Travis and I met, of all places, in a bar. We are both quite tall and we just lockedView full post »
One factor that many people don’t consider when planning their wedding in Montana is what time is best for photos. When the sun is rising and the sun is setting is by FAR the best time for photos…and in Montana that can be really late! In June and July the sun sets around 9, mid August around 8:30 and September around 7:30. If you want the OPTIMAL time you’ll want to plan on doing photos starting an hour before the sunset, so if your ceremony lasts a half hour then plan the ceremony time an hour and a half before sunset. I realize this can be hard if you have aView full post »

Eloping is such a great option for those who want a more low-key, intimate, and budget friendly way to be wed. And there’s no better place (in my completely biased opinion:) than Glacier! It’s truly one of the most beautiful places in the world, the recreational opportunities are endless, and although Glacier itself is remote, the surrounding areas cater to tourists and retirees, offering fine dining and lodging.
Check out some of my favorite restaurants here.
I hope this info and my photos inspire you to get hitched in the 406! (oh, that’s Montana’s area code…that’s right, ONE areaView full post »
